Governance

The Governing Body is made up of elected parents, elected staff members, community and local authority governors. They work on a voluntary basis for the good of the school and are responsible for overseeing strategic matters relating to school life. The Governors are responsible for deciding and agreeing school policies and for ensuring that the school is run effectively so that we are able to meet our aims.

Governors serve on the Governing Body for four year terms.

Governors endeavour to be accessible to parents and carers and any matter of policy which parents feel should be discussed can be raised with any governor.

The Governing Body has two committees; Learning, Teaching & Safeguarding and Finance & Resources; they meet regularly to discuss pupil progress, curriculum, policy, finance, buildings, appointments, school improvements and safety, health and well-being. These committees report to the Full Governing Body and make recommendations for future priorities.

The governors are very committed to the school and support our development by being critical friends – in the knowledge that their decisions have a key influence upon the progress of the children and young people at Kingsweston. A Governor Impact Statement accompanies the message from our Chair of Governors.
