Curriculum

Our curriculum has a pupil centred approach in which every pupil is encouraged to enjoy learning, make progress and achieve. We recognise that pupils at Kingsweston have specific, diverse and individual abilities and needs and our curriculum aims to reflect these. Our ultimate goal is that the pupils are enabled to be active learners who are moving towards independence, autonomy, empowerment and are learning to effectively communicate their needs, wants, and opinions.

In the ASC Strand, we run a topic based curriculum that changes each half-term. The topics are based on the National Curriculum and sequentially link with topics that are studied at our Shirehampton site.

Both Brightstowe and Shirehampton run on a shared KS2 - KS4 curriculum that aims to provide a sequential and aspirational curriculum that cover all key areas of the national curriculum.

To the side, under each Key Stage tab you will find a description of the termly curriculum being offered for each Key Stage this term.

Please see below for our ASC Curriculum Document and the ASC Secondary long-term planning.
