Admissions

Staff and Governors of the school believe that all pupils are entitled to the best education that can be provided, and that this should be provided through a pupil centred approach. Delivery, we believe, should be through motivating and challenging experiences and the use of creative and well informed approaches to teaching and learning.

Our Admissions Policy is determined by ‘The School Admissions Code’ and ‘The Admissions Appeals Code’ written by the Department for Education (DfE). As a community special school Kingsweston is also governed by the Local Authority (LA) admissions policy of Bristol City Council and these procedures are followed prior to the acceptance of any pupil.

All pupils admitted to the school have a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Autism will be a defining feature for admission to some of our sites although the school accepts pupils with a wide range and complexity of need, including severe learning difficulties.

Parents, carers, prospective pupils, their teachers and supporting professionals are welcome to visit the school by prior appointment.

Once a place is agreed the we will offer taster visits and an individually negotiated induction package which take account of the needs of the individual pupil.
